New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today visited several programs focused on health, youth, housing, and comprehensive neighborhood and economic development in Central Brooklyn .
“I am here to listen and learn. I am here to find out how my office can assist you,” Thompson said in addressing about two dozen community leaders at Medgar Evers College .
Thompson toured two program sites : The Caribbean Women's Health Association (CWHA) and the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (BSRC). He capped off his tour with a luncheon at Medgar Evers College , where he hosted an interactive discussion with various non-profit organizations and services providers, community boards, local businesses, and residents.
“ Central Brooklyn is my home and I have seen how the area has changed and improved,” Thompson said. Through good times and bad times, the nonprofit organizations in this community have helped to sustain the neighborhood throughout the years.”
