New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today announced that his second-annual Winter Clothing Drive collected hundreds of coats, sweaters, hats and other items over the last month. The drive, which concluded yesterday, drew donations from both businesses and individuals and eclipsed the amount of items donated last winter.

Members of the Comptroller’s Office of Community Relations now will deliver the items to the Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, Jackson Avenue Family Residence in the Bronx, Hope Project in Brooklyn, Springfield Gardens Family Inn in Queens, and Project Hospitality in Staten Island.
“I am heartened by the outpouring of generosity from people all across the city,” Thompson said. “Each day, more coats and scarves and hats were dropped off at our office. Together, we are able to help those who may desperately need warm clothes to avoid the harsh winter cold and its effects. Every little bit helps, and what New Yorkers have donated has been more than a little bit.”
