New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today visited several programs in Washington Heights with Alianza Dominicana, the nation’s most comprehensive human service and community development agency serving Dominicans.
“This is an opportunity for me to understand your needs, and how my office can best work with you,” Thompson said in addressing a number of community leaders at a forum that capped off the visit.
Thompson toured Alianza Dominicana Inc.’s headquarters and Family Center, the La Familia Unida Day Care Center, and the ARC (Action for the Retired Community) Senior Center, speaking with staff, clients, and community members.
Alianza Dominicana was founded in 1987 and is a non-profit community development organization that partners with youth, families and public and private institutions to revitalize economically distressed neighborhoods. Alianza Dominicana offers services at 11 sites, and annually services more than 17,000 individuals from across the city.
