Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the
AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust and AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust’s completion of their $750 million New York City Community Investment Initiative commitment, in which the New York City Pension Funds invested $152 million:
“I applaud the achievements of the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust’s New York City Community Investment Initiative. Overall, the HIT has been an excellent investment for the New York City Pension Funds and its multifamily and homeowner investments have been of great benefit to New Yorkers. With its public commitment to make investments in New York City after September 11, 2001, HIT’s vote of confidence in our City has helped its recovery. We are pleased to continue investing in the HIT and welcome its continued presence in New York City.”
