New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement regarding Diwali:

To all NewYorkers who celebrate Diwali, I wish you a happy Diwali. Diwali, or Festival of Lights, celebrates the renewal of life and the triumph of good over evil. Diwali is an important time not only for celebration but also for reflection.

As New Yorkers celebrate Diwali, it reminds us that the diversity of cultures, religions and traditions is what makes New York City great.
