NEW YORK, NY – Comptroller John C. Liu today issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s statement of support for same-sex marriage:

“President Obama has taken a historic and courageous stance by defending the right for all Americans to marry regardless of their sexual orientation.  We still have a long way to go before everyone is assured equal treatment, but President Obama has moved America forward and set a bold example. I applaud the LGBT community in New York City and around the country for their advocacy on this important equal rights issue.”
