LIU STATEMENT ON FEDERAL JUDGE’S RULING
REGARDING STOP AND FRISK

View in pdf

NEW YORK, NY – City Comptroller John C. Liu issued the following statement today on a federal judge’s ruling to allow class-action status in a stop and frisk lawsuit:

“Today’s ruling should serve as a wakeup call to put an end to the stop and frisk policy that disproportionately impacts Blacks and Latinos and exposes the City to serious financial liability. Taxpayers can’t afford ill-conceived practices that poison the relationship between our communities and the police, a relationship that is vital to maintaining a safe and secure city for all New Yorkers. Stop and frisk should be abolished.”
