Comptroller Stringer Lays Out Agenda To Strengthen New York City’s Economy

Urges City to Invest More in Minority- and Women-Owned Businesses, Increase the Earned Income Tax Credit for Working New Yorkers, and Build the Next Generation of Affordable Housing

(New York, NY) – In a speech today before the Association for A Better New York, City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer outlined a comprehensive agenda to bolster the New York City economy by increasing affordable housing, supporting MWBEs, fighting poverty and strengthening our schools. Comptroller Stringer proposed tripling the City’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to uplift low-income New Yorkers, creating a comprehensive, coordinated approach to helping MWBEs and small businesses grow, establishing a New York City Land Bank to build the next generation of affordable housing, and accelerating successful programs to ensure all children are college and career-ready and can take advantage of the expanding tech economy.
