A Feminist Recovery

In honor of Women’s History Month, Comptroller Brad Lander, Council Member Shahana Hanif, and Council Member Tiffany Caban invite New Yorkers to a conversation on the gendered impacts of the pandemic in New York City and what we must do to realize an inclusive, feminist recovery. Together, we will explore a variety of issues that uniquely and disproportionately impact women, ranging from low wages in the care sector and disparities in access to reproductive health care to accessing safe housing and ensuring freedom from violence at home and in our neighborhoods. Guest speakers, including Prarthana Gurung from Adhikaar, Anthonine Pierre with Brooklyn Movement School, and Chanel Porchia-Albert from Ancient Song Doula Services, will highlight the policy changes and investments that must be prioritized to address the deep-seated inequities exacerbated by COVID-19.
