Comptroller Scott M. Stringer Applauds Decision To Ban Hydraulic Fracturing In New York State

New York State today sided with history, its citizens and its communities in implementing a ban on hydraulic fracturing. It’s a great day for all of us who fought for years to “kill the drill” and protect New Yorkers in every corner of the state from the hazards of fracking.

Governor Cuomo is an environmental champion who should be commended for analyzing all the facts in a thorough and comprehensive manner and recognizing the enormous climate and public health costs fracking imposes on us all. I also want to commend the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation for his hard work and diligence in tackling this issue in manner that will protect the Empire State for generations to come.
