Comptroller Stringer and Pampers Announce Donation of More than One Thousand Changing Tables Across the City
Comptroller letter to NYC Parks informs the agency that Pampers in partnership with the #LoveTheChange campaign and UP-STAND are donating 1,041 changing tables citywide
Letter follows Comptroller report in June 2019 that found only 387 of the 1,428 bathrooms in Parks’ inventory had a changing table for infants and toddlers
(New York, NY) – Following a June 2019 report by New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer, “Dis-comfort Stations: The Conditions and Availability of NYC Parks Bathrooms,” which revealed only 387 of the 1,428 bathrooms in Parks’ inventory had a changing table, Comptroller Stringer sent a letter informing New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks) Commissioner Mitchell Silver that representatives from the #LoveTheChange campaign, accessibility advocacy organization UP-STAND, and Pampers have partnered with Comptroller Stringer to fill a gap identified in the Comptroller’s report to donate 1,041 changing tables to the City.
“Our parks and playgrounds are critical public spaces, providing our children and all New Yorkers a safe and secure place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Our bathroom facilities should be comfortable and that means we must provide appropriate amenities for parents and caretakers to change their baby’s diaper,” said New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer. “Changing tables at comfort stations aren’t a luxury, but a necessity, and every public bathroom should have a changing table. I am thrilled that our report got results, and I applaud Pampers for their generous donation.”
#LoveTheChange is a campaign sponsored by Pampers in partnership with Koala Kare, John Legend, and Donte Palmer to donate 5,000 changing tables for infants and toddlers throughout the United States and Canada.
