“My heart breaks for all for whom this decision denies justice or closure. The Garner family has used their unimaginable pain to push for real change and they’ve inspired a new generation of activists to take on the fight for equal justice. We can’t let up in the march for progress. Five years after Eric Garner’s death, it is an outrage that Officer Pantaleo has not been fired. We must demand better, and we have to redouble our efforts in the fight for meaningful criminal justice reform.”
