New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer Statement On New York State Court Of Appeals Ruling In Favor Of Local Control Over Land-Use Decisions
“This case wasn’t just Small Town v. Big Industry-this was about New Yorkers from every corner of the state coming together to fight for the future of our neighborhoods, and to send a loud and clear message that control over hydrofracking belongs to citizens, not corporations.”
In December, Comptroller Stringer jointly-filed an amicus brief with Elected Officials to Protect New York at the New York State of Appeals to allow local governments to use zoning laws to prohibit hydrofracking within their borders.
