NYC Comptroller Brad Lander Applauds Council Confirmation of Georgia M. Pestana to the Conflicts of Interest Board

New York, NY– The New York City Council approved the appointment of Georgia M. Pestana to the Conflicts of Interest Board. New York City Comptroller Brad Lander announced Pestana’s nomination to the City’s Conflict of Interest Board (COIB) on January 26. Pestana was previously the City’s Corporation Counsel and made history as the first woman and Latina to lead the City’s Law Department. She is the first appointee to the board by the NYC Comptroller, following a 2019 Charter Revision.
“I am thrilled to see the City Council vote to confirm Georgia Pestana to the Conflicts of Interest Board. She is a champion for holding government to the highest ethical standards and will perform her role with integrity. I have no doubt that she makes an excellent addition to the city’s independent ethics agency,” said Comptroller Brad Lander.
