Statement from New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer on Fiat Chrysler

“I am deeply concerned by the EPA’s accusations that Fiat Chrysler cheated on emissions tests. If these allegations are true, Fiat Chrysler is not only hurting consumers and shareowners, but is actively undermining efforts to protect our environment. As long-term shareowners, we believe shortcuts like these are absolutely unacceptable.

“Today, I’m calling on Fiat Chrysler to create a special committee of independent directors to immediately conduct a thorough investigation and report their findings and recommendations to shareholders. The board must hold any responsible executives accountable and take the necessary steps to ensure this never happens again.”
