Statement from New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer on President Trump’s Executive Order

March 28, 2017

(New York, NY) — Today, President Trump signed a sweeping Executive Order that will undermine climate change protections. New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer released the following statement:

“When you stack your administration with people who don’t believe in basic science, and when you embrace a flat-earther attitude to global warming, this is what you get in Washington. Climate change isn’t a debate – it’s a fundamental, incontrovertible reality. And the White House wants to once again deny that this reality is caused by human activity. It’s an extension of an alarming pattern – from shamelessly debating inauguration sizes, to using ‘alternative facts,’ to making absurd wiretapping claims. At a time when we need bold solutions and real action, this Executive Order turns back the clock on progress. It’s backwards and it’s wrong.”
