NYC Comptroller Lander Statement on Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court Decision

June 24, 2022

New York, NY — NYC Comptroller Brad Lander released a statement in reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson:

“The Supreme Court has turned back the clock on abortion access despite broad nationwide support for abortion rights. Overturning Roe jeopardizes the lives and futures of millions of people. This decision will fuel continued, relentless attacks on women, trans and gender nonconforming people’s bodily autonomy from state legislatures around the country. This Court is a clear and present danger to the rights to privacy and equality that Americans hold dear. While we work to restore majoritarian democracy and push for action from Congress, New York must advance its standing as a safe haven for those seeking and providing affordable abortion care. I will do everything in my power as Comptroller, as a feminist, and as a neighbor to protect access to abortion in our city.”
