Statement from New York City Comptroller Brad Lander on Election of Directors to Disney’s Board

April 3, 2024

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander released the following statement on the election of Disney’s nominees to its Board of Directors:

“After a contentious proxy battle, I’m pleased to see the majority of shareholders recognize the dangers of Nelson Peltz on the Disney board by reelecting CEO Bob Iger and other nominees proposed by Disney’s management. Peltz’s history of having board seats at companies that have underperformed highlights the risk his election would have posed for Disney’s future.

“We look forward to the board’s execution of their strategic transformation plan and continued vigilance and oversight, including with respect to CEO succession planning. As long-term investors, we remain committed to actively engaging with Disney’s board and ensuring shareholder interests are safeguarded for the company’s long-term success.”
