Statement from New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer Calling for the Resignation of Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló

“Growing up with my mom and stepfather, Puerto Rico has a special place in my heart. It does for all New Yorkers. For our family, Puerto Rico is our home outside the five boroughs. That’s why the events over the past week have been so disturbing.

“Governor Ricardo Rosselló’s self-dealings, his attacks on lawful protesters, and his misogynistic and homophobic rants are disgusting and don’t represent Puerto Ricans. He is clearly not the leader we need as we continue to rebuild from Hurricane Maria. He must resign now.”
