Statement from NYC Comptroller Lander on Taxi and Limousine Commission’s New Minimum Pay Rules for Uber, Lyft

June 20, 2025

New York, NY —  Following the New York City’s Taxi and Limousine Commission’s (TLC) announcement on new minimum-pay rules for ride-share drivers, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander released the following statement:

“This new rule would provide higher pay and protections against lockouts for Uber and Lyft drivers who’ve been constantly denied rights by these apps. These app companies have consistently tried to maneuver around paying workers since I first introduced the minimum pay law. My office stood with the Taxi Worker Alliance when these lock outs began and fought so that these workers can get on the road and to work with the pay they deserve. New York continues to stand up for and by the workers.”
