Statement from NYC Comptroller Scott M. Stringer on President Trump’s Proposed Budget

May 23, 2017

New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer released the following statement on President Trump’s proposed budget, released this morning:

“This document is as ridiculous as it is reckless, and it’s as heartless as it is draconian. Cutting children’s healthcare, taking an ax to Medicaid, slashing money for those with disabilities, changing the face of education as we know it — all of it is wrong. In President Trump’s world, the wealthy win while the rest of us lose. That’s not New York, and that’s not America.

“Budgets are about priorities, and they’re statements about values. This budget speaks volumes about an Administration that seeks to shred the safety net for the benefit of the Mar-a-Lago elite.”
