Charting Homelessness in NYC

Family Types

NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) reports the counts of individuals in shelter by type of family (families with children, adult families, or single adults) and by age groups. Note: this chart only includes populations sheltered in the DHS shelter system and therefore does not reflect the increased number of single adults or adult family new arrivals who are sheltered in the HERRCs or shelters managed by other City agencies.
