This dashboard tracks key indicators of performance by City agencies to provide a snapshot of how well they are meeting their goals to improve the lives of New Yorkers.
About This Dashboard
Each indicator below shows the change over time across a key performance measure. Select an agency to focus on a particular aspect of City government.
Indicators are shown over the short term (the most recent month vs. the month before), medium term (the most recent three months vs. the same period a year ago), long term (this year-to-date vs. last year over the same time period), and against a pre-COVID baseline (the current year-to-date vs. the same span in 2019).
This dashboard shows the most recent data reported by City agencies, supplied primarily though NYC OpenData. Where agencies do not release these data frequently enough or with enough detail to view them across all time spans, those data are shown as “not available.” Full data are available for each indicator from their public sources through the links on each indicator card.
Count and time-span measures are shown as percent change, while rate and percentage measures are shown as percentage point changes. Indicators are shown as “improving” or “worsening” if they change more than 5 percent or 2 percentage points from the previous period measured. indicators that historically have very low variability may show as improving or worsening at smaller changes, as noted in the “Read More” details on indicator cards. Some complex indicators that are essential for understanding City operations are presented as neutral, also noted in the “Read More” details.
Data are updated on this dashboard when they are published on NYC OpenData or another online, public data source. Some City reports, such as the Mayor’s Management Report, may be released as documents before their underlying data are made public; in such instances this dashboard will lag behind the published report until the City agency updates the online data source.
